About Me

I am Daniel Tobin, an artist based in Southern California. My earliest memory of engaging in art was drawing with pens and markers at age 3. It was the middle of high school when I began to take art more seriously. In 2023, I graduated from Cal State San Marcos with a degree in Arts, Media & Design. Although I do a little bit of everything when it comes to art, most of my work now entails writing music and creating art including but not limited to charcoal drawings, paintings, sculpture, masks, and more.

In terms of tactile art, I mostly use charcoal and have drawn pets for people on commission. If you have any request for me to draw or design something for you, click here for request guidelines.

People have also asked me why I chose to pursue art. I usually tell them that it is not only a creative outlet but also that which maintains and/or expands upon important fundamental skills and knowledge. It can also be a profound source of reflection for many audiences, regardless of the age group. That is a large part of what I want to achieve in any artistic venture. Some works are portraits of those who have passed away. As unfortunate as that is, these sorts of artworks can allow oneself to truly reflect on their legacy and the impact that individual had on their life. Often times when I am doing a charcoal drawing, I find myself focusing a great amount of detail on the subject and stylizing the background to make it as if they are floating through this sort of ethereal space. There is a lot I can say about art, but it is also great when art can speak for itself.

In terms of my influences, I take a great deal of inspiration from not only the music I listen to but also movies and literature, particularly those relating to horror. I find that these horror elements are not necessarily meant to scare people but rather prompt reflection within the viewer. I have been told that it makes certain people wonder what the backstory is beyond the spectacle. It is also a great spark of imagination for me and helps me to stay productive and create work that inspires the reflections thereof.

Provided that this is site also includes my music, it is worth noting I also play guitar and bass and have been writing music off and on since I was 11. I currently run a solo project called Hand of Fall, which is a mixture of subgenres including black metal, video game and/or horror soundtrack, thall, and others where applicable.
